Chapter 6 The chapter starts off when Herman gets a leter from Vice President of Employee Affairs Homer L. Kasson stating that Herman would be transfered from Newark, NJ to Danville, KY. Herman claims that moving to Danville could lead to the start of a new life for the Roth family while Bessie complains that it is just another one of Lindbergh's plans to affect the Jews in some sort of way. Phillip hears this and goes to the OAA where he talks to his Aunt Evelyn. Aunt Evelyn first suspects that someone sent Phillip to her to ask her about moving but Phillip says how it was himself who came to ask. Phillip doesn't want to move to Danville and instead persuades Aunt Evelyn to get Seldon and Mrs. Wishnow to go. When the family listened to Walter Winchell, he said how already 3 million Russians were branded with swastika's in Moscow and continues to blame President Lindbergh for this. Phillip then afterwards goes to the orphanage and goes to see the horses when the gate unlocks and one of the horses kicks Phillip in the face. He ends up going to the hospital and has a skull fracture as well as being unconsious and bleeding. Phillip also lost his stamp collection while at the orphanage and after searching for hours, it was gone.
